Sägner

We have always been telling stories. Stories of dark places, of paths we must not walk, of kindness not to the trusted - and stories of love, of forgiveness, of wisdom, of secrets well-kept. We have filled the dark corners of the world with familiar monsters, and so we've made them feel like home.

This collection of small games grew out of those stories. Sägner was created for the Folklore Jam 2020, and consists of four games: two games for two players, one game for one player, and one game for several players.

The Prince Under Ground
A game for two players and a deck of playing cards, playing out the meeting of a human and the cursed Prince Under Ground.

Irrbloss
A game for several players played with tokens and six-sided dice, in which the spirits of the dead guide - or misguide - a traveller across a treacherous marshland.

Myling
A game for two players about a restless spirit's long, harrowing journey towards death, played with a six-sided die.

Vitorm
A game for one player about learning secrets from the king of serpents, played with wishes and a six-sided die.
