Silkpunk Artbook

There is a tension between the old world and the new. A point of balance on the scales: in one hand the slow, meticulous work of art, craft and nature, and in the other, the bright, sharp purity of progress. And in that splintering moment - a city, and the people within. Poised on that edge where silk becomes wire; where stone gives way to steel; where wood becomes charcoal in the forge of a promised tomorrow.

We are all lightning trapped in glass.

Silkpunk is the sketch of a moment in time, where those who would control the future force the hands of those that shape it, and those who would hold onto their freedom must wrench it from the steel grasp of order with fangs and claws. A moment where the nature of tomorrow seems inevitable, but the cracks in the pavement still give way to flowers, and the stubborn heart of the wild world still beats underneath it all.

It began life as a simple character design challenge posted on my Patreon, and grew exponentially as I worked on it. The resulting artbook is 40 pages long, and contains the concept art and designs of five different characters in the same silkpunk-flavoured setting. Each character gets a brief presentation and a splash illustration, as well as costume design turnarounds, item and equipment design, alternate colour schemes and additional smaller illustrations.

No AI was used in the creation of this artbook. Every piece of art and writing for this project was made with my own hands and mind. No parts of it are permitted to be used for generative AI purposes.
